First Techniques!

strange touch

This technique is designed to increased proprioception (knowing where the body is in space) by drawing the brain’s attention to unfamiliar sensations of the limbs.

Great as a “grounding” technique for worried horses, but also for horses with chronic pain elsewhere, regular tripping, nerve damage, general balance and body awareness and more.

rib hold/breathing

This can help with relieving generalised tension through the body and nervous system, rib restrictions, abdominal wall restrictions, tension through attachments of the diaphragm, heave lines and more.

sacrum rock

This technique is great for relieving tension through the spine, improving spinal mobility, improving relaxation, improving symmetry in how the horse loads the hind limbs and more.

Once you find the middle of the sacrum, you can also activate the acupressure point there for relaxation - just scratch the point at the centre of the sacrum (there will be a dip there)

wither rock

Same idea as the sacrum rock, but possibly harder to practice those soft hands!

pec release acupressure

We had covered this earlier, but this can be a hard one to find - may be a better view in this video!

“inchworm” spinal release technique

This is a TTouch technique, but one of my favorites for tension through those paraspinal muscles, horses with kissing spine, for doing before putting on a saddle or after a strenuous ride and more.

bladder meridian sweep

This is a Masterson technique which I have found to be great for relaxation, recovery from illness, improving symmetry and more.

cervical/neck stroke

For relieving tension in the neck - touch is as light as the bladder meridian and looking for similar signs for where to pause.
